Wikis

Wikis are a collection of web pages making information on a variety of different subjects. Anyone can edit a wiki so more and more information can be added all of the time. A very famous wiki, wkipedia, is looking to collect all of the world's information on one web page.WikiWikiWeb was the first site to be called a wiki. It started to be developed in 1994 by a man called Ward Cunningham. he was inspired by Apple's hyper-card. This was a group of virtual cards all with different information on. Common uses of wikis are project communication, intranets, and documentation.Since anyone can edit a wiki the information you use from a wiki could be complete rubbish. Therefore wikipedia employ a lot of people working on making sure the information on wikipedia is true. This is obviously very hard to police so ultimately a wiki will only work if people editing the pages are being helpful. This sums up wikis really well. The more synical you are thus the more untrustworthy you are, wikis will not be good for you. But if you use them cleverly they are often a lifesaver
